President Duterte has appointed Coast Guard Vice Admiral Leopoldo V. Laroya as the 28th Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard following the mandatory retirement of Coast Guard Admiral George V. Ursabia effective 8 September 2021.
He was previously the Deputy Commandant for Operations.
Vice Admiral Leopoldo Laroya was born in Quezon City.
He began his military career 1n 1983 when he entered the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) and graduated as a proud member of the “Maringal” class of 1988.
