Remembering the life and works of National Artist Arturo R. Luz on his 2nd death anniversary (May 26, 2021).
Arturo R. Luz was a painter, sculptor, and designer who created masterpieces that exemplify an ideal of sublime restraint in expression and form. From the ‘Carnival’ series to the later ‘Cyclist’ paintings, he produced works that elevated Filipino artistic visions to new heights of sophisticated minimalist designs. Among his other significant paintings are ‘Vendador de Flores’, ‘Procession’, ‘Nightglows’, ‘Cities of the Past Imaginary Landscape’, and mural ‘Black and White’.
