The Binondo Lift Bridge was completed in 1913. The new 15-meter steel bridge spanned over the Estero de Binondo and connected Calle Dasmarinas to the San Nicolas district. Its road deck can be lifted, allowing ships with cargo to pass through the Estero below.
This feature made the bridge unique in the country. The bridge survived World War 2. Unfortunately, the Binondo Lift Bridge was replaced by the DPWH with a basic concrete bridge sometime in the late 20th century.
