Update: It is now complete
The New Bohol (Panglao) Airport was started on June 22, 2015, and the target completion is October of 2018.
The Panglao Airport is said to be the first eco-airport that utilizes green and sustainable structures and technologies.
The New Airport is expected to accommodate 2 million passengers annually.
The Department of Transportation (DoTr) is looking at alternate gateways to complement operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the Clark International Airport and decongest NAIA, hence, the Bohol airport.
