PN Vessels Partake a Procession at Sea in honor of the Patron Saint
Sangley Point, Cavite City – BRP Rafael Pargas (PC379) and BRP Ismael Lomibao (PC383) of Naval Task Unit 71.2 under the operational control of Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) participated in the successful conduct of Sugirao City’s annual thanksgiving tradition for safe travel at sea dubbed as “Sakay-Sakay Abayan” to honor the Patroness of Peace and Good Voyage (Virgen dela Paz y Buen Viaje), early morning of June 20, 2020.

Sangley Point, Cavite City – BRP Rafael Pargas (PC379) and BRP Ismael Lomibao (PC383) of Naval Task Unit 71.2 under the operational control of Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) conducted rescue operation to a distressed vessel at vicinity 13 nautical miles west of Mt. Mani-Ayao, Surigao Del Norte who incurred engine trouble due to broken shafting and she is dead on the water.
A late night of June 19, 2020, upon receiving the directive, PC379 & PC383 departed Eva Macapagal Wharf, Surigao City, and proceeded to the said area to conduct rescue and assistance with possible towing operations to the distressed vessel. Said vessel has six crews on board and carrying more or less 6,000 cases of empty beers.
Early morning of June 20, PC379 & PC383 successfully and safely rescued M/V JJBA SEA BREEZE 7 at vicinity 22.7 nautical miles west of Cantapoy, Surigao Del Norte, and subsequently towed the said vessel up to Balingoan, Misamis Oriental.
This mission demonstrated the Philippine Navy’s readiness and promptness in Search and Rescue Assistance whenever and wherever our people need us. The Philippine Fleet assets will always respond promptly to any emergencies no matter what. (June 19, 2020)
