De La Salle University – Malate
Established by the De La Salle Brothers in 1911 at Paco. Relocated to its current location along Taft Avenue in Malate in 1921. St. La Salle Hall is the oldest building on the campus, built-in 1920-1924 based on the designs of architect Tomas Mapua. Damaged during the Battle of Manila in 1945. Site of the De La Salle College Massacre which saw the deaths of 16 Christian Brothers and 25 civilians. Restored and expanded after the war. Currently has several campuses across the Philippines and is one of the major universities in the country.
