Divisoria (Manila’s Sprawling Market Area)
The term “Divisoria” refers to the vast market area in North Manila, centered at the Divisoria market in San Nicolas, Manila. The name “Divisoria” was used to refer to the wide street (Azcarraga, or Recto) which were laid down to act as fire breaks and separate flammable Tondo from the commercial areas of Binondo.
Modern Divisoria is sprawled over several districts: San Nicolas, Binondo, and Tondo. The market section is famed for the many wares and products that can be bought in the area, cheap products, and low prices.
