BUTUAN-BORN FILIPINA SCIENTIST!

Today, February 11, is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. We are proud to feature Dr. Jurgenne Honculada- Primavera, a distinguished Filipina scientist in the Natural History field and currently one of the members of the National Museum Philippines Board of Trustees.

Marine and aquaculture scientist Dr. Primavera, currently settling in Iloilo City, was born in Butuan City, Northeastern Mindanao. She has authored over a hundred scientific papers, reviews, manuals, books and other publications. She also serves as a board member and scientific adviser to various organizations.

Known as an environmental champion, she has several recognitions and significant contributions in the field of Philippine natural history. Her remarkable passion and commitment to preserving our environment are extraordinary, as shown in her achievements.

According to the UN, the International Day for Women and Girls in Science is an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls.
