Edgar Posadas was designated as the new (OCD) Office of Civil Defense
He is a medical doctor by profession. He is a certified Family Physician by the
Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP).
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD), is the implementing arm of the National Disaster
Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC),
It has the primary mission of administering a comprehensive national civil defense
and disaster risk reduction and management program by providing leadership in the
continuous development of strategic and systematic approaches as well as measures
to reduce the vulnerabilities and risks to hazards and manage the consequences
Edgar L. Posadas is a former Region 8 Director of the Office of Civil Defense
in the Province of Leyte.
He used to be the managing director of PHAP or Pharmaceutical and Health
Care Association of the Philippines Cares Foundation Inc.
PHAP Cares Foundation Inc. is a non profit non-stock organization establish by
the members of the (PHAP)Pharmaceutical and Health Care Association of the
PHAP is a group representing the leading providers of quality and life-saving
medicines in the Philippines.
PHAP was very active in responding to the victims of the super typhoon Haiyan
known as Bagyong Yolanda in the Philippines.
This organization gave a substantial amounts of medicine donations to the
victims and survivors. It continued to help until the present rehabilitation
of the areas affected by the typhoon.
During typhoon Nando and Maring, the organization also donated a substantial worth
of essential medicines for the victims.
The New OCD spokesperson said,
“I assure our friends from the media, specifically, the defense press corps (DPC)that
the partnership and good working relationship that OCD has with the DPC will
continue so that our people can get the best service in DRRM and Civil Defense.
