On this day, July 11, in 1985, Filipino Redemptorist priest and activist Rudy Romano was abducted by armed men in Tisa, Labangon, Cebu City and has not been seen since.

Romano was known for his community work wherein he helped farmers, workers and the poor with their struggle for social change and better living and working conditions.

He was also a vocal critic of Martial Law and the Marcos administration, who is suspected of being behind his forced disappearance. He was born on Sept. 26, 1940, in Villareal, Samar.
