On this day, March 4, in 1899, the First Philippine Commission led by Dr. Jacob G Schurman arrived in Manila. Their duty is to study the situation in the Philippines and make recommendations to the American government.

Today in 1933 was the inauguration of President Franklin D Roosevelt of America. He was the 32nd president of the country which caused it to rise from the Great Depression and win WW II.

On this day in 1840, the first commercial photography studio opened in New York owned by John Johnson and Alexander S Wolcott.
