Proclamation No. 244 s. 1993 declares the month of September of every year as the National Clean-up Month and the 17th to the 23rd of September of each year as the World Clean and Green Week.

It aims to mobilize a massive voluntary action to support and complement the country’s clean-up and environmental greening activities wherein garbage reduction, recycling and composting, and the rehabilitation of waterways will be institutionalized by various sectors of society.

Also, formal and non-formal education on garbage management, pollution control, and the training of trainers, teachers, and youth leaders will be intensified during the month of September.

Proclamation 244 s. 1993 was declared and signed by President Fidel Ramos.
