Oldest Educational Institutions in Manila
- University of Santo Tomas,
- Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and
- Colegio de Santa Isabel.
The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas was established in 1611, making it the oldest operational university in the Western tradition in Asia.
The Colegio de San Juan de Letran was established in 1620 originally as a school for orphans. It is the oldest college in the Philippines.
The Colegio de Santa Isabel or Santa Isabel College was established in 1632 as a school for women.
All three institutions had their original campuses in Intramuros. Only Letran remains in the walled city.
