August 15 2021: The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has issued Alert Level 4 (Mandatory Repatriation/Evacuation) for the whole of Afghanistan due to the worsening security situation in the country.

Alert level 4 is raised when there is large-scale internal conflict or full-blown external attack. Under this alert level, the Philippine government undertakes the mandatory evacuation of all Filipinos in the area.

The Philippine embassy in Pakistan, which has jurisdiction over Afghanistan, is in close coordination with the Department on the repatriation of the remaining Filipinos in Afghanistan. Currently, there are estimated 130 Filipinos in the country.
