Portrait of Vicente Lim
Mabuhay ang Beteranong Pilipino
Today, we will be sharing a portrait of General Vicente Lim.
Born in Calamba, Laguna, he graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point in 1914. He then became part of the United States Army and taught various military courses until he joined the Philippine Army in 1936. At the advent of the Second World War in the Philippines, he became commanding general of the 41st Infantry Division. He helped defend Bataan, survived the Death March, and then joined the guerrilla movement. He was captured in June 1944, incarcerated in Fort Santiago, and was believed to be executed that year.
The NHCP commissioned this 2021 portrait by Adan Pesito to help implement Memorandum Circular No. 25 (5 September 2017) which requires government offices to display the images of our heroes.
