Roman Ongpin

Ongpin Street, a famous street in Binondo, is named after Roman Ongpin (1847-1912). He was a Filipino-Chinese businessman and philanthropist who aided Filipino revolutionaries against the Spanish and American colonial administrations in the Philippines.

He also became the treasurer of Union Obrera Democratica, the first labor union in the Philippines. His statue is located beside Binondo church.
