San Jose Matulid Chapel (Mexico, Pampanga)
San Jose Matulid Chapel is believed to be the oldest chapel in Pampanga. Although there are no written records that show the exact construction of the chapel, the locals claim that it is older than the Sta. Monica Parish Church was built by the Augustinian friars in 1665.
Its site is also believed to be the first settlement established by the missionary friars upon their arrival into the area before transferring to Barangay Parian due to the constant flooding of the nearby creek called Sapang Matulid. San Jose Matulid Chapel could have been built in the late 1580s.
