New UNESCO World Heritage Site Marker for Santa Maria Church Unveiled
The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), the UNESCO Philippine National Commission (UNACOM), and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) unveiled the new UNESCO World Heritage Site marker for the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur today, 15 November 2024.
NHCP Chairperson Regalado Trota Jose, Jr., UNACOM Secretary-General Ivan Anthony S. Henares, and NCCA Chairperson Victorino Mapa Manalo (represented by Mr. Joseph Patrick Lee) presented the marker.
Rev. Fr. Roque C. Reyes, Archdiocesan Director of the Commission on Church Cultural Heritage of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, accepted the marker.
Joining them in unveiling the markers are Sta. Maria Acting Mayor Michael S. Florendo who also delivered the welcome remarks, and Rev. Fr. Ernesto A. Juarez, Jr., Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Priest.
The marker was installed through the efforts of the NHCP, the UNESCO-Philippine National Commission (@unesco_phnatcom), and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (@nccaofficial).
