What does Diosdado mean?
The name “Diosdado,” coined by the late President Diosdado Macapagal’s grandmother, was a combination of Spanish words “dios” and “dado” meaning “God” and “gift” respectively, thus its full meaning—“God-giftedness.”
This also shows the Catholic devotion of the Macapagal family, especially of Escolastica, who used to serve as one of the laity in the San Agustin Church.
