Dr. Ligaya S. Lacsina is a maritime archaeologist specializing in Southeast Asian watercraft construction. In 2009, Dr. Lacsina received her Master of Arts in Archaeology from the University of the Philippines.
Later, in 2016, she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Maritime Archaeology from Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia with a doctoral thesis examining the Butuan boats.
She previously served as a researcher for the National Museum of the Philippines’ Archaeology Division beginning in 2004, and later as a researcher and curator for the Maritime, Underwater and Cultural Heritage Division from 2016 to 2021.
Dr. Lacsina is currently an Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines’ School of Archaeology.
