This “Karosa de Kalabaw” of kamagong wood was donated by the Tirol family of Iloilo last 2019 to the NHCP Museum of Philippine Economic History. The Tirols are known sugar barons during the peak of the Philippines’ sugar industry.
Karosa or bamboo carts came from the Spanish word “Carroza” which is a vehicle used to carry goods usually pulled by a carabao. In earlier times, local produce such as rice and sugarcane were brought to the town by these karosas.
