PASIYOK means ‘to equalize’ in Bantayanon (& other central Bisayan languages), referring to the technique of pressure equalization needed for the human body to safely go down underwater. The word exists in Bantayanon language because freediving is part of its cultural traditions as fisherfolk peoples.

Salamat PASIYOK for creating a space for Bantayanons to freely access ancestral embodied knowledge of freediving and immersive experience of marine ecologies. Locals, & especially its environmental stewards, deserve to experience the treasures of this beautiful island that is all too commonly marketed for tourist consumption.
