According to Pigafetta, the Magellan-Elcano expedition encountered a most furious storm while cruising to Biraham Batolach Island.
The crew prayed for their survival which Pigafetta claimed to have seen apparitions of St. Elmo, St. Claire, and St. Nicholas.
