Escuadro Aerea de Pelea 201 Historical Marker
On 8 October 2021, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines unveiled a new historical marker commemorating the Escuadro Aerea de Pelea 201, a unit of the Mexican Armed Forces which helped the Filipinos during the Second World War.
The marker was installed beside a monument built in the unit’s honor just outside the walls of Intramuros, Manila.
His Excellency Gerardo Lozano Arredondo of the Mexican Embassy and Atty. Guiller Asido, Administrator of the Intramuros Administration, accompanied NHCP Chairman Dr. Rene R. Escalante and OIC-Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo in unveiling the marker.
