2023 Manlilikha ng Bayan for Oral Traditions

Manang Lita, as her community fondly calls her, has been championing the performance of the waning Ilocano oral tradition “Dallot” and other oral traditions since she was fifteen. Dallot is centered on courtship and wedding and is performed during social gatherings and Adelita is the only remaining master of the art that requires command of the Ilocano language and the figures of speech to recite a majestic piece.

As a master, she has managed to integrate art into other social functions beyond weddings and courtships despite its slow disappearance. Beyond Dallot, Adelita has emerged as a leading force in safeguarding and promoting Ilocano oral traditions.
