A Sama Traditional Boat, Dapang, from the Nayong Pilipino Ethnographic Collection is exhibited at the National Museum of the Philippines – Zamboanga.
In 2001, the Nayong Pilipino Foundation entered into a 20-year agreement with the National Museum of the Philippines for the boat’s Transfer Without Cost.
Made of wood, bamboo, and textiles, the Dapang boat’s origins can be traced from Sitangkai, Tawi-tawi.
It is currently on view as a part of the exhibition: Intersecting Currents, The Sama Dilaut, and the Sulu Sea exhibition located at the National Museum of the Philippines Western-Southern Mindanao Regional Museum in Fort Pilar, Zamboanga City.
