Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels
The Feast of the Santos Angeles Custodios (Holy Guardian Angels) ushers in the fiesta season in Angeles City. Liturgically celebrated every October 2, it is the first of Angeles City’s triple feasts of the month.
HISTORY
The original image of the patron was commissioned in 1930 and custodianship was passed on to Don Angel Pantaleon de Miranda, then to Dr. Mariano Henson, to Augustina Henson, and on to Don Juan Nepomuceno. Currently, the image is enshrined at the Holy Angel University chapel.
THE VENERATED IMAGE
The image presents the Holy Guardian Angel guiding a child which gives the impression that the angel is guiding the child on his/her earthly journey to holiness. The Angel and the pilgrim wear a beautiful set of vestments, standing on a cloud base. Noticeable is the Angel wearing a diadem, which is considered a symbol of devotion by the people of Angeles City.
