This is a photographic reproduction of Felix Laureano’s Iglesia de Oton.
Oton, Iloilo’s first church was erected in 1569. The nineteenth-century church was in Gothic revival style but had a Greek cross plan and a central altar under the transept. Fr. Joaquin Fernandez, O.S.A. finished the construction in 1883 and it was consecrated as the Church of the Immaculate Conception in 1891. Although partially destroyed by an earthquake in January 1948, it was completely torn down to give way to a new church built in the 1950s. Miguel Zaragoza painted the four finials of the cupola or rotunda.
