Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro, daughter of former Vice President
Noli De Castro, said that the Philippines has a good chance of hosting the
prestigious beauty contest.
She and the Miss Universe organization are trying to iron out a few details.
Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the Miss
Universe Organization. Along with Miss World, Miss Earth, and Miss International, this pageant is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants, the most coveted beauty titles when it comes to international pageant competitions.
The current Miss Universe is Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa who was crowned on 26 November 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
The Philippines will be represented by Catriona Gray in the Miss Universe 2018 pageant.
Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo said the Miss Universe Organization considers the Philippines the best venue for Miss Universe, which is why the organization has asked again for the 2018 pageant to be held in the country.
She further said that the Miss Universe Organization wants the beaches and the food.
