Introducing our admin, co-conjurer & Hiligaynon learning facilitator, Raffy Bunal @raffybun.
Raffy is a cultural worker across oceans and is a movement artist and theatermaker with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies.
They recently were in immersion with Parangal Dance Company @parangaldance to deepen dance, music, and ritual research with indigenous communities across Maguindanao: Cotabato, Zamboanga, Tawi-Tawi, Basilan, and in Luzon: Lubuagan, and Batangas, respectively.
They performed across the archipelago through the CCP Outreach Program with the interregional production “Gintong Alab sa Silangan,” a dance-drama invoking the spirits of significant eras that shaped the Filipinos & their nation; coordinating local/regional performances w/Maskara Theatre Ensemble @maskaratheatre.
Rooted in Buglas (Negros Island), Visayas, they are deepening community in Lenape-Munsee-Canarsie lands of New York City, co-organizing Ulirat Consciousness Market @uliratmarket & are a member of NYC-based Pilipinx traditional folk dance group Sining Kapuluan @siningkapuluan.
Raffy is an aspiring pleasure activist for the liberation of queer, trans, black, indigenous, and persons of color, and environmental justice through lived islander ecologies.
