The proclamation of Philippine Independence from Spain was declared at 4:30 pm on 12 June 1898. Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista read the 21-paged document entitled “Acta de la proclamaciĆ³n de independencia del pueblo Filipino.
The Independence of the Philippines was proclaimed at the window of General Emilio Aguinaldo’s house in Cavite El Viejo (Now Kawit, Cavite) at 4:20 PM.
Rear Admiral George Dewey was invited but did not attend. In the said event, Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista read the 21-page Act of the proclamation of Philippine independence (Acta de la proclamacion independencia del pueblo Filipino) which he penned under Aguinaldo’s instruction.
