GOOD NEWS: BRP GABRIELA SILANG TRANSPORTS 148 Locally Stranded individuals (LSIs) TO DAVAO, GENSAN

PORT AREA, MANILA – Aboard BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) transports a total of 148 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from Manila to Davao City and General Santos City at exactly 12:00 p.m. today, 15 June 2020.

Earlier, six PCG buses proceeded to the Villamor Air Base to ferry said LSIs were declared free from the threat of COVID-19.

Upon arrival at the Port Area, Manila, the LSIs were carefully guided through registration and body temperature checking, while their baggage was loaded at the PCG’s newest offshore patrol vessel.

PCG Commandant, Vice Admiral George V Ursabia Jr spoke before the LSIs to express his gratitude for their cooperation, through their full compliance with health and quarantine protocols being implemented in the National Capital Region (NCR) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PCG Commandant assured them that they will have safe, secured, and convenient sea transport to their home cities, with the help of the professional and competent crew members of the BRP Gabriela Silang.

“Wala po kayong dapat intindihin sa biyahe na ito. Sagot po namin ang pagkain at matutulugan, at may kasama rin po kayong mga medical personnel na magbabantay sa inyong kalusugan. Magpahinga lang po kayo at magtiwala na malapit niyo nang makasama ang inyong pamilya,” VADM Ursabia said.

Upon arrival in Davao City on 17 June and General Santos City on 18 June 2020, said LSIs will be welcomed by PCG frontline personnel who will supervise the safe disembarkation, an inspection of pertinent documents, and health screening.

Afterward, they will be transported to their respective local government units (LGUs) for further assistance. @coastguardph
