In a vote of 18-0, the Social Welfare attaché Bill passes third reading. This bill when
it becomes a law intends to place or assign a permanent social welfare attache in
every country where there is a large concentration of OFWs like Hongkong and Saudi
Arabia.

The social welfare attaché bill or SB N0.1819 will surely prevent or lessen the abuse
committed by employers against Filipino overseas workers.
The Bill specifically intends to:
- Provide enough social, economic, and legal services to OFWs abroad.
- Provide a permanent social welfare attaché whose job is to help OFWs in distress.
- Provide proper coordination with government agencies to address OFWs psychosocial needs.
Aside from Senator Joel Villanueva, this bill is co-sponsored by Senator Angara,
Senator Gatchalian, and Senator Loren Legarda.
