San Lorenzo Ruiz of Manila is a Filipino saint venerated in the Catholic Church.
Born in Binondo Manila on November 28, 1594 to a Chinese father and a Filipino mother who were both Catholic.
During his childhood life, He served as an altar boy at the Binondo Church and being educated by the Dominican friars. Lorenzo also a member of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.
The beatification of Lorenzo was held during the Papal visit of Pope John Paul II in the year 1981 in the Philippines. After six years, He and the other martyrs was canonized on October 18, 1987 by Pope John Paul II in Vatican City.
