Kamuning (Murraya paniculata (Linn.) Jack
Kamuning is a small, smooth evergreen tree, growing from 3 to 8 meters in height, and has very hard wood. They are common in thickets and secondary forests at low and medium altitudes throughout the Philippines.
It has shiny, red elliptic fruits, about 1 centimeter long, and inside, one or two light green seeds are embedded in the bitter, watery pulp.
Kamuning is commonly used in tropical gardens and is very popular in landscaping, where it is valued for the intense orange-blossom fragrance of its flowers and fruit. It is valued especially for its essential oils, for the yellow heartwood of larger specimens, and its range of medicinal uses.
