Manila, An Attractive City
Manila was an attractive city. It was prosperous, wealthy, and located at a strategic spot at the mouth of the Pasig river. Because of this, it was not only the Spaniards who wanted to conquer it. One of them was the Chinese who, under the leadership of Limahong, attempted to invade Manila.
After a bloody battle, the Chinese were defeated and Manila remained under the Spanish regime. It remained under the Spaniards for the next three centuries.
