Manila’s Famous Educational Institutions for Women

As we celebrate International Women’s Day and National Women’s Month, let us not forget one of the major human rights which women attained in the 19th and 20th centuries: the right to education. Taken for granted today, the right for women to be able to study beyond the talents of the future housewives and to pursue whatever they want to study, was something that had to be fought for by women in the past.
Here are some of the major schools, colleges, and universities for women which exist and used to exist in the city of Manila. Interestingly, most of these schools were established and led by women themselves.
- Santa Isabel College
- Centro Escolar University
- Philippine Women’s University
- Assumption College
- St. Scholastica’s College
- St. Theresa’s College
