The proclamation of Philippine Independence from Spain was declared at 4:30 pm on 12 June 1898. Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista read the 21-paged document entitled “Acta de la proclamación de independencia del pueblo Filipino.
The Independence of the Philippines was proclaimed at the window of General Emilio Aguinaldo’s house in Cavite El Viejo (Now Kawit, Cavite) at 4:20 PM.
Rear Admiral George Dewey was invited but did not attend. In the said event, Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista read the 21-page Act of the proclamation of Philippine independence (Acta de la proclamacion independencia del pueblo Filipino) which he penned under Aguinaldo’s instruction.
