This is tinagak or knotted pineapple fiber. This is used in weaving piña cloth. Red Spanish pineapple leaves can grow to approximately one to two meters in length in 1.5 to 2 years. The extracted and cleaned fiber are knotted to form a continuous thread ready for weaving.
