When did Islam start to spread in the Philippines?
One of the founding scenes was the rise of the Sulu Sultanate in Mindanao. Najeeb Saleeby, an Arab scholar, says that Sayyid Abubakar founded the sultanate in 1450. Cesar Adib Majul, however, questions the date.
