Dr. Ramon Gustilo is a well-known academic and orthopedic surgeon. He was a pioneer in musculoskeletal infection research and treatment recommendations. His extensive orthopedic research prepared the basis for his successful work as an innovative surgeon. In 1992, Dr. Ramon G. Gustilo established Orthopedic Innovations, Inc. (now Orthopedic International, Inc.) in Cabuyao, Laguna, to develop and produce novel, high-quality, and cost-effective orthopedic implants and devices. He also became the president of the Minnesota-Dakota-Manitoba (Mindaman) Orthopedic Society in 1974 and served as chairman of Minnesota’s state representative of the Subcommittee on Injuries to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in 1975 for five years.
