DENR National Capital Region signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the 51st Engineering Brigade of the Philippine Army in relation to the greening of Camp General Rigorberto J. Atienza in Libis, Quezon City and nearby barangays on Friday, 28 June 2019.
The regional office provided 3,248 fruit-bearing trees and bamboo saplings to the Philippine Army for planting inside the camp and in Barangays Libis and Santolan in Pasig City.
DENR National Capital Region Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan thanked Brigadier General Emmanuel Anthony V. Ramos, Commander of the 51st EBDE, for partnering with DENR in its greening effort especially as Metro Manila is sorely lacking planting space. She said she is hopeful that the Philippine Army would continue supporting DENR in its bid to expand the green spaces of the region and in the cleanup and rehabilitation of Manila Bay.
