The project to rehabilitate, upgrade and construction of the Makar Wharf started on March 2017.
The Makar Wharf, centrally located at the tip of Sarangani Bay, serves as the city’s
maritime gateway for people and trade in Soccsksargen region and handles various types of cargoes.
The port houses modern facilities such as container yards, storage and weighing bridges and has a container capacity of 650,000 TEUs a year.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said better port facilities would strengthen tourism in the country and bolster the Philippines’ appeal as a cruise destination.
