Tambal is the scariest “elemento” (evil spirits/mythical creature) in the Philippines. These sneaky creatures often live in the forest and are always on the lookout for people they can steal.
They usually take the form of their victim aiming to replace them in the real world while the human stays lost in the forest until someone fetches them.
Tambals are scary because they will gain your trust and will do everything, even kill, just to live in the human world.
