Beautiful! These colorful handwoven food covers are called ‘turong dulang’ and ‘tutup’ by the Sama and Tausug groups in Mindanao. Turong dulang is a dome-shaped cover with a basket decorated with colored geometric woven designs of buri strips. It has a loop attached to the lid and strings on both sides of the basket to serve as the handles. Tutup is similar to turong dulang lid but is slightly bigger and has no basket. Both are made of woven layers of pandan, nipa, and buri to keep the food warm.
