Boaioaq (bo-yo-wa) is a brass mortar used in pounding condiments such as palapa, a spicy mixture consisting of thinly chopped white scallions and ginger, turmeric, chili, and toasted grated coconut.

This boaioaq forms part of the National Ethnographic Collection of the National Museum of the Philippines from the Maranao of Lanao del Sur in the Southern Philippines. The bowl has a diameter of 18 centimeters and a height of 9 centimeters, with a wing-like handle similar to the panolong (a house ornament with okir design) of the Maranao torogan (Sultan’s house).
