Dr. Francis L. de los Reyes III is an internationally eminent scientist in the field of environmental biotechnology and engineering. He is honored for his notable scientific contributions at the intersection of microbial ecology/biotechnology and environmental engineering, as well as for his continuous collaboration in the Philippines for the advancement of science and technology.
Dr. de los Reyes is currently a professor and university faculty scholar at North Carolina State University, United States. He is actively teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on environmental biotechnology, wastewater treatment plant design, and the fundamentals of environmental engineering. Among his numerous awards are the Dentel Award for Global Outreach by the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors and the Excellence in Environmental Engineering Research by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers in 2017.
Corresponding Member de los Reyes obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of the Philippines Los BaƱos in 1990, his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University in 1994, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1994. He was elected to the Academy as a Corresponding Member in 2020.
