What is butaca?

A butaca is a reclining chair with a curved backrest. In the 19th century Filipino homes, butacas come in different forms – the silla perezosa (lazy chair), silla frailuna (friar’s chair), and the planter’s chair – all of which have long and wide arms for resting one’s legs.
