National Artist for Architecture, Bobby Mañosa’s works put the spotlight on the beauty of Filipino architecture, such as bahay kubo and bahay na bato.
He is known for integrating traditional designs and indigenous materials with modern technology.
His most notable work is the Coconut Palace.
From the 1960s in his landmark design of the Sulo Hotel until his retirement in 2015, Bobby Mañosa courageously and passionately created original Filipino forms, and spaces with intricate and refined details. He developed a legacy of Philippine architecture, which is essential to our Filipino identity and at the same time, deeply appreciated and shared in our world today. Some of his major works are the San Miguel Building, Metrorail Transit System Stations for LRT 1, and Quezon Memorial Circle Development Plan.
